Colton has been asked to lead the Survivor’s Lap of the Benton Relay for Life walk.
Well, actually his parents were asked. This is a fund raiser for the American Cancer
Society. Colton has his own team, Colton’s Warriors. His team page is
Colton’s Warriors
- Relay for Life
The Benton Relay for Life is scheduled on
Friday April 30, 2010
at 6:00 pm until Saturday
at 6:00 am
at Saline County Courthouse
Yep, this walk lasts all night long. The goal is to have enough team members so no one has to walk for a long time, or at least alternate times. If you want to participate, you can join the team on the Colton’s Warriors page.
If you are unable to walk, you can still donate. The team page has a Donate link. The funds will be linked to his team, and can even be linked to an individual on his team. All of the funds go to the Relay for Life.

I can’t believe it has been so long since I updated Colton’s web page. We updated the photos also. The grownups in the family say his big news is that he had his port removed. Colton would say the big news is that he and Shelby had their joint birthday. On March 8th, Colton turned eight and Shelby turned two. I guess Colton’s 8th birthday is the biggest news for us too. God has blessed in so many ways.
He is only going to clinic every six weeks now. Each trip, he gets some of the vaccinations that are usually given to babies/ preschoolers. Except for the shots, Colton still likes going to clinic. He will even talk to Dr. Stine now. When Colton was in treatment, he would ignore Dr. Stine. One time when he was in-patient, 17 or 18 months old, he started clapping as soon as Dr. Stine started walking out of the door. Our laughter brought him back in to see what was so funny.
We appreciate your continued prayers. Dr. Mian has worked hard on helping Colton overcome his chronic GVHD. His skin is so much better. We have even had a hint or two that he might regain his ability to perspire. He was able to go to the zoo with his mommy, daddy, and Shelby during Spring Break last week. We are hoping he will be able to be outside more this Summer, i.e. when it is hotter, then he has for the last several years.
Shelby’s birthday picture (on the Photos page) makes her look four instead of two. She is definitely a sweet two-year-old though. She loves dolls and animals. Nana and Aunt Lisa pulled out some of Colton’s old animals for her. She played more with them in the first week then Colton ever did.She also watches her big brother climb and jump off of furniture and tries to imitate him. She is fearless in that category but not with strange noises in the night. She is temporarily stationed in Colton’s bottom bunk after hearing someone (mommy) walking by her window at night.
